Brezhnev's War: NATO vs. the Warsaw Pact in Germany, 1980

This two-player wargame simulates the first month of a hypothetical conventional Soviet-led invasion of Western Europe in 1980. Warsaw Pact forces attempt to blitz across West Germany and neutralize NATO’s strategic and industrial center before nuclear or chemical weapons are used and Western reinforcements can arrive. The map covers the Federal Republic of Germany, with turns representing three days and units representing divisions and brigades. Players manage movement, combat, supply, air power, artillery, electronic warfare, paradrops, heliborne and special forces, reinforcements, and national loyalties. The system uses a fight-move or move-fight sequence, with variable Soviet objectives and special rules for key locations including Frankfurt. A game takes about four to six hours for experienced players.
