World At War 85: Storming the Gap

Simulate platoon-level combat in an alternate-history 1985 where Warsaw Pact forces cross into West Germany and push toward the Fulda Gap. Players command mechanized and armored formations, activate units by formation, and resolve combat with opposed dice rolls that apply hits directly from unit counters rather than consulting a CRT. The system integrates initiative, formation activation, variable turn length, artillery, close air support and air cover into fast, tactical engagements. Scenarios recreate frontline maneuvers, combined-arms coordination, and the tension of reacting to armored breakthroughs at the company and battalion level.
