Cthulhu Gloom

Players control small casts of doomed protagonists in a Lovecraftian setting, steering them through madness, misfortune, and death across locales like Arkham and Innsmouth. Transparent modifier cards stack on character cards so alterations to a character’s fate remain visible; players play negative events on their own characters to rack up misery and positive events on opponents to protect or save them. Story cards sit in play with conditions that grant effects to the first player who meets them, and Transformation cards permanently mutate a character’s nature and image for the rest of the game. The game ends when a group falls to cosmic horror, and the player whose characters have suffered the most wins.
