Players build and operate a rail network across Portugal, laying track, upgrading locomotives and establishing connections between cities and islands. Goods are produced and delivered; players bid for contracts, sell to cities and manage revenues while using operation cards to trigger actions each round. The map emphasizes close, contested routes and introduces maritime connections to reach offshore islands, new public-private and government support mechanics, and goal cards that guide scoring. Players balance investment, debt and share holdings as they expand routes and compete for lucrative lines and deliveries.
