1212 Las Navas de Tolosa

Recreates the 1212 battle of the Reconquista in a compact two-player tactical wargame using nine cards. Players command either the Christian coalition (Castile, Aragon, Navarre) or the Almohad Empire, placing and moving troops across a small battlefield and resolving combats to eliminate opposing forces. Each round, both players choose a card face down and reveal simultaneously to determine initiative; revealed cards then serve as action points used in alternating turns to move and fight. Victory is achieved by specific battlefield conditions: eliminating the Black Guard, reducing enemy presence in the opponent’s zone, or having at least double the opponent’s surviving troops.
