Caesar: Epic Battle of Alesia

A tactical-level wargame recreating the 52 BC engagement in which Roman forces besiege a fortified town while also defending against a large relieving army. The mapboard shows the town of Alesia and the concentric siege works constructed by the Romans; counters represent Roman and Gallic units, including the trapped force inside the town and Gallic relief forces that set up off-board. Players maneuver units, conduct assaults and sorties, and manage the dual challenges of containment and external defense. The Gallic side attempts to open an escape route and evacuate their leader; the Roman side seeks to hold the lines over twenty turns that simulate the two-day campaign. Scenarios cover historical setups and force dispositions.
