A shadow-cloaked dwarven hold lies in a vast cavern beneath the human village of Wellswood, beside the cold, dark waters of Lake Thraren. Shafts of light descend through the village wells, while strange fungi grow along the shore and unusual fish inhabit the depths. Dwarves and humans maintain an uneasy peace as they fish the lake and harvest its plants. Rising taxes from the village lord pressure the reclusive Erdikr clan to fortify the hold, draw more dwarves to it, and secretly plan the recovery of their fallen, dragon-infested strongholds.
