Milecastle 42 (Aether)

A decade after a mysterious fireball scatters fragments across the Roman world, the dead rise from battlefields and graves. Rome responds by building Caligula’s Wall, a fortified frontier lined with milecastles that signal warnings through colored fires. When the signal from the next milecastle turns red and then goes dark, the characters set out before dawn to investigate. The adventure provides a detailed setting and map, enemies, historical background, and a generic soldier template that can be improved and specialized for quick character creation. It supports a dangerous, open-ended expedition into the Dead Wilds.
