Yes—shuffle and deal three faction cards to each player, each player chooses one to keep and returns the rest to the box; resolve any “Setup:” text on your chosen faction now (page 4).

No—each player chooses one ACTIVE sheet for the round and may only mark that sheet (except to cross out a spent asset or if a card effect says otherwise); focus dice may only be spent if that die is unlocked on the active sheet (pages 7, 16).

No—you must unlock the Gravity Drive technology before you can explore through wormholes; the Navigation sheet shows exploring via wormholes but notes Gravity Drive is required, and technologies (including unlocking) are described on page 16 (pages 8, 16).

When you claim the Mecatol Rex system you write your faction name into the topmost open Mecatol Rex slot, immediately circle the number of votes shown on your Industry sheet, and write the slot’s victory point value into the Mecatol Rex box; if multiple players claim during the same step they each gain the rewards shown for the highest slot filled that step (page 16).

In a tie you cross out both of the assets next to the tied strength boxes and neither player wins or loses that war; losing a war awards the -1✦ loss asset and winning awards the positive asset as described (page 13).
