Village: Port
Add a coastal extension that lets players send family members abroad, hire captains, and board ships to visit distant islands. Players sell domestic goods, pick up foreign commodities, dispatch missionaries, and dig for treasure while managing actions and timing of villagers. New life-goal cards introduce individual careers—such as writer, historian, or knight—that provide alternate scoring paths. Components and rules integrate with the base game and can also be combined with the inn expansion.

Do I have to hire a captain before my ship can leave port?
Yes. To set sail, choose any available captain, pay its coin cost, and place it beside your ship tile; hiring a captain is required to move out of port. (Rulebook, p. 3)
How much can I load onto my ship, and can I load two pieces of the same type?
Your ship has 3 holds, each holding exactly 1 playing piece, and you may load up to 3 different types that you own. All family members count as one type, as do all treasure chests, so you cannot load two family members or two treasure chests at once. (Rulebook, p. 4)
Do I have to pay influence cubes for my first movement step?
No. Your first step is free; additional steps cost influence cubes according to the captain card. Each time you enter a time water-space, you immediately lose 1 time. (Rulebook, p. 4)
If I reach an island, can I keep sailing instead of stopping there?
Yes. When you enter an island water-space, you may either land and immediately end your movement or continue sailing. If you land, you may perform any number of the actions allowed by that island. (Rulebook, p. 5)
What happens when I return my ship to port?
Place the ship in port, lose exactly 1 time regardless of where you returned from, unload all pieces from the ship tile, and return the captain to the box. Treasure chests remain face down until you choose to reveal them for their coin value. (Rulebook, p. 5)
Can I use goods or family members on my ship while they are still at sea?
No. While the ship is at sea, its loaded pieces cannot be used for village actions, including harvesting or selling goods at the market; cocoa baskets, tea bales, and treasure chests also cannot be used until brought back to port. (Rulebook, p. 5)
