1849: The Game of Sicilian Railways

Spelers bouwen en exploiteren spoorlijnen op Sicilië in de 19e en het begin van de 20e eeuw, leggen spoorwegtegels en breiden netwerken over het eiland uit. Het spel maakt gebruik van aandelenrondes en exploitatierondes: spelers kopen en verhandelen aandelen om bedrijven te controleren en exploiteren die bedrijven vervolgens door routes te rijden, inkomsten te genereren en dividenden uit te keren of in groei te investeren. Het spel is ontworpen als een compacte, sneller te spelen introductie tot de 18xx-familie en stroomlijnt het bedrijfsbeheer en de spoorontwikkeling, terwijl het handelen in aandelen, routeplanning en economische concurrentie behouden blijven.

Just a first impression. I messed up badly as I got stuck north-west doing nothing mid-game to game end. Entirely my fault, but it left a somewhat bad taste in my mouth. Will make sure everyone know how to avoid this to make sure everyone has a good time learning this one. I'm sure my rating will go up further, as I loved everything with it, except for the fact that I messed up. Haha

After one F2F game and one learning online, I love the partial capitalisation and the hardship on the map, but the standard vs narrow gauge choices add a little too much overhead. Maybe it will pass, but I prefer all the other rules for now [UPDATE]. Yes way better at the second or third play. The confusion of gauges went away, I'm still very bad at the operating round, but the overhead disappeared. Still a bit slowish at 3.5-4h , but fantastic game once you get the hang of it.
