Dead of Winter: The Battle of Stones River (Second Edition)

This historical wargame recreates the Battle of Stones River, fought near Murfreesboro, Tennessee, between the Federal Army of the Cumberland under William Rosecrans and the Confederate Army of Tennessee under Braxton Bragg. With both sides fielding roughly 40,000 troops, the battle unfolds in the winter of 1862–63 as the armies contest control of Middle Tennessee. Interactive chit-pull mechanics represent the uncertainty of command on the 19th-century battlefield. The revised edition uses a larger ground scale, four maps, and scenarios ranging from short introductory engagements to full-battle campaigns. One introductory and ten regular scenarios cover the historical action and plausible alternatives, with optional forces adding further variation.
