Players rule Austria, Byzantium, England, or France and appoint one of 49 famous generals as their commander. Players develop their nation by accumulating political power, increasing production and population, and researching technologies. They also raise armies, manage alliances, and compete in battles. Victory points come from winning battles and developing new technologies, with outcomes shaped by available actions, commander abilities, and luck.
