Le Jeu de la Guerre

A two-player abstract war game developed in the 1960s and published decades later. Players secretly deploy infantry, cavalry, artillery, and horse artillery across a 25-by-20 map divided by a border. Each territory contains arsenals, fortresses, and mountains that block movement, attacks, and communication. On each turn, a player may move up to five units and attack. Combat is resolved without dice by comparing attack and defense values, causing units to retreat or be destroyed. Victory comes from eliminating the opposing army or capturing both enemy arsenals, while maintaining communication lines remains essential.
