The Climbers

This is a short filler abstract game where on your turn, you can move or rotate a brick from a pile of bricks, and then move your pawn up the mountain, walking only on sides that are your color or grey. Your pawn can only naturally move up steps at it's own eye level at a time. If you want to make a bigger jump, you spend your two one time use ladder tokens. The game ends at the end of a round in which no player was able to gain any more height. You just keep stacking and moving until there are no more usable free pieces or no more platforms left on which to put free pieces. This game baffles me. I never have a good sense of the how or why of any given turn. There's strategy here, on my turn I have decisions as to which brick I take, and where it goes keeping in mind other player's positions and situations and colors... but I really don't get it in terms of when I should use my one time use tokens or what I should be setting up for and how. I don't know how to feel about this game even after five plays.

Los escaladores, un juego muy vistoso, difícil de conseguir y caro, pero que funciona muy bien con jugadores ocasionales y que sirve para dar a conocer a nuevas familias en los nuevos juegos de mesa.

Fun game with a large attraction factor to non-boardgamers. Perhaps a bit too far on the abstract side to be a real winner for me, but I'm a climber myself so it gets points for that.
