Guardians and monsters vie for the soul in an afterlife inspired by an ancient Christian narrative and depicted in an iconographic Byzantine style. Players receive secret roles and use heroes, tokens, shields, and ascension cards to influence the soul’s progress. On each turn, a player takes one action before revealing a Soul card, which may introduce monsters, advance the soul along ladders, or move the monster character. The guardians win if the soul reaches the top of the ladder; the monsters win if the monster reaches it first.
