Union Pacific

Players invest in rail companies by either expanding a company to raise its value and drawing a share, or by playing shares from their hand to increase ownership in one or two companies. Four semi-random scoring rounds award dividends to the first- and second-place shareholders for each company; only shares already played to the table count for scoring. One special company follows its own share-claim rules and pays dividends according to a fixed chart rather than board position. Money records dividend payouts and determines the winner; it is not spent during play.

Lots of downtime in most of the games I've played (typically 5-6 player). Entertaining, but little to focus on in between turns.

This game is remarkably similar to Acquire, but I'd play either of them at any time. Very fun game, and I really like the Union Pacific stock, even though it makes for some agonizing decisions.
