You may use a card’s ACTION by spending one of your turn actions and following the card’s steps (place the card face‑up and resolve it); poker card ACTIONs go to the discard pile while character/item ACTIONs just resolve their text (see pages 8 and 20).

Fights resolve in four steps: Declaration, Reveal, Reaction, Reward; the active player plays a face‑down poker card and the target may accept or decline, with declination causing an immediate win for the active player (the active player still discards their chosen card); loser always gains 1 wound and draws 1 poker card, and different fight types (Arrest/Duel/Rob) give different rewards/penalties (pages 8–9).

Starting poker costs an action plus a $10 ante and draws 1 poker card; other players in the same town may pay $10 to join before the flop; if nobody joins the player to the right becomes the dealer (sets aside their hand and draws 4), then the top three cards are revealed as the flop and players make the best five‑card hand (page 10).

You can carry at most 4 gold nuggets, and you can carry a maximum of $120 (any excess money is lost); while at the Bank you may spend an action to deposit nuggets for $20 and 1 LP per nugget returned to the supply (page 11).

Wanted and Marshal points are earned by specified actions (e.g., Rob/Heist/Rustle for Wanted; defeating bandits, wrangling cattle, or arrests for Marshal); moving on those tracks grants immediate rewards and at the end of each Wanted player's turn they gain LP based on the row they occupy (1/2/3 LP), while Marshal players gain rewards when advancing and score LP at game end by their Marshal row (see pages 16 and 13).

Each wound reduces your hand size by 1 (you discard down at end of turn) and a player can have up to 3 wounds; you can heal all wounds by paying $10 at the Doctor (and you draw 1 poker card per wound removed), and some items/cards also remove wounds (pages 20 and 12).
