Alchemists

Players take on the roles of rival alchemists working over six rounds to discover how mystical ingredients interact. Each round players choose turn order, place worker cubes to declare actions, then resolve those actions in sequence. Players mix ingredients and test results using a companion app that randomizes potion effects each game, sell potions to earn money, buy powerful artifacts, and publish theories about ingredient properties. Reputation shifts throughout play and is tracked for scoring; at the end of the game published theories are checked and converted into points along with artifacts, grants, and final reputation totals.

Reúne ingredientes, vende pociones, compra artefactos, dale a probar tus pociones a un estudiante o pruébalas tú mismo. Y lo más importante, publica tus hallazgos antes que nadie, o miente sobre lo que has descubierto... MECANICAS Mezcla de colocación de trabajadores con deducción, faroleo e implementación de app. ESCALABILIDAD (2-4) Funciona bien en todo su rango (2-4) de jugadores. Siendo su punto óptimo a 3 o 4, donde el faroleo cobra más peso. ACCESIBILIDAD ⭐⭐⭐ Requiere rodaje Si bien no es complejo de normas, requiere un par de partidas para entender el sistema y comenzar a exprimirlo. Disfrutable desde la primera partida. PROFUNDIDAD ⭐⭐⭐ Alta La mezcla de deducción con el timing de publicar teorías (verdaderas o falsas), hace del juego bastante profundo. VARIABILIDAD ⭐⭐ Baja Las fórmulas para cada ingrediente, los clientes a los que venderles las pociones y los artefactos que aparecen en cada partida suelen cambiar. Pero el bucle jugable suele ser similar en cada partida. IMPACTO DEL AZAR ⭐⭐ Bajo El único azar viene dado por la aparición de ingredientes y las cartas de favor. INTERACCION ⭐⭐⭐ Alta Indirecta y psicológica: Bloqueo de espacios, faroleo y carrera por ser el primero en publicar. TEMATIZACION Integrado La app, la pantalla de mezclas y el ambiente académico logran una buena inmersión temática. DEPENDENCIA DEL GRUPO El juego funciona bien por sí solo. A los jugadores les debe gustar la deducción. DURACION 90 - 150 mins. SETUP / TEARDOWN Medio Montar el juego y recogerlo al terminar no es ni corto ni largo. EXPANSIONES / MODULOS El juego tiene modo Básico y Avanzado. Recomiendo unas 3-5 partidas al modo Básico antes de pasar al Avanzado. Expansión - El Golem del Rey: Trae varios módulos de distintos niveles de complejidad. Solo para los muy amantes del juego y al menos 12-15 partidas. Es complicada de encontrar a día de hoy. Do I resolve actions in player order, or does the order change from space to space?

Players resolve each action space starting with the player on the highest occupied row, then proceed downward. After everyone takes their first action there, players with a second action take it in the same order (pp. 8–9).

Can I use all my action cubes in the first round?

No. In the first round, each player may use only 3 action cubes, and three marked actions are unavailable. From the second round onward, you may use your full set of cubes (p. 8).

If someone makes a negative potion on the student, do I have to pay to test afterward?

Yes. Once a player makes a negative potion while testing on the student, every later player who tests on that student must pay 1 gold, though they may decline instead. The first test—and all tests before the first negative potion—are free (p. 10).

What happens if I drink a negative potion?

A blue potion makes you lose 1 reputation, a green potion paralyzes you so you play last next round, and a red potion sends your action cube to the hospital, leaving you with one fewer cube next round. No negative potion can affect you twice in the same round (p. 10).

If I sell a potion that is better than my guarantee, do I get the higher price?

No. You are paid only the price of the guarantee you offered; if the result is worse than that guarantee, you receive nothing. A neutral or wrong-sign result also costs you 1 reputation, regardless of whether you met the guarantee (p. 11).

What is the difference between publishing and endorsing a theory?

Publishing places a new alchemical token and your seal, costs 1 gold, and gains you 1 reputation. Endorsing places your seal on someone else’s theory, costs 1 gold plus 1 gold to each player already sealed there, and gives no reputation (p. 13).
