Dominations: Road to Civilization

Players guide a tribe from its primitive beginnings into a developed civilization by placing triangular domino-like tiles to expand territory and population. Tiles grant knowledge and resources that players spend to found cities, master skills, and unlock new abilities that shape their society over time. Each mastered skill becomes a permanent pillar that alters future options and scoring. The game plays 2–4 players and resolves when the shared tableau or supply is exhausted; highest-scoring civilization wins.

Se trata de un euro duro disfrazado de 4x y por eso lo puntuo tan bajo. La tematización es de adorno, ya que no pinta nada. Todo se trata de hacer combinaciones de colores para lograr combos con los que acumular puntos. El único azar está en las losetas que te salen. Para mi gusto es un juego muy aburrido. No llegué a terminar la primera partida.

1st Impressions: Equal to TAPESTRY in rules weight but not nearly as random. Feels more like a "Civ" game to me I guess. Aesthetically pleasing, great value ($53 CAD for a Civ game when they want to charge $45CAD for NOVA LUNA!!) and a lot of fun while playing too. PROBLEMS: a bit too fiddly because of 6 resource tracks needing updates constantly and the game lasts a bit too long (2.5 to 3 hours for 4p). I can deal with the somewhat fiddliness because the game is fun (but a better choice of components could have helped alleviate this to a certain extent) and I think the length issue can be countered by limiting to a 3p game which should bring playtime down to within 2hours. I want to explore this more and with the expansions too but only as 3p going forward.
