Elysium
Players take the role of demigods in mythic Greece, recruiting cards that represent heroes, items, powers and gods to build combinations and write their own Legends. Cards belong to one of eight Olympian families and have levels from 1 to 3; players collect sets by family or by level to score favor and gain gold. Over five rounds, players draft and play cards, manage changing card powers, and decide which cards to transfer to Elysium to complete Legends. The game centers on set collection and engine-building under pressure: powerful combinations yield rewards, but moving cards to Elysium often strips them of abilities, forcing trade-offs between immediate power and long-term scoring.

Evan4,6 Everyone seemed to want to like this game more than they actually did. The idea of the game is that players sort of draft cards from a central face-up area, but each time you take a card you discard a resource pillar, and each card has a resource pillar requirement, so as you select things you limit your further selections. This is an interesting and AP inducing element of the game. The cards all have cute abilities that build on each other, but cards only score for you when they are banked into sets. When a card becomes a part of a banked set, it's ability no longer works. There are very few opportunities each game to bank cards, and there are large rewards for players who manage to bank a set of each type before everyone else does, so you are sort of always building and then destroying your engine, which I found somewhat frustrating. The other issue is that some cards are so weak as to have their ability be 'get a dollar' and others that are so strong as to grant the player a ton of extra points. For example, there is a scoring money card that gives you points for leftover dollars. If you get that, great. If not, extra dollars are just tiebreakers. One player in our game managed to collect a set of '1s' cards that alone gave him more points than any other player had accumulated across all their cards. This seemed especially strange as the 1s cards are the cheapest to bank. All in all, I think I'd rather play Deus in it's slot. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :star: Clever or interesting mechanisms :nostar: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :star: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::star::nostar::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment
