Players run a small homebrewing operation across eight months, using dice to represent available actions like buying ingredients, adding flavorings, entering events, and brewing batches. Gameplay alternates between a trade phase, where players negotiate and exchange dice at the club meeting, and action phases, where dice are spent to build an engine: improving recipes in four categories (Ale, Porter, Stout, IPA), increasing quality levels, and brewing to gain medals and meet judge preferences. Reputation comes from advancing quality tracks for festival awards and tailoring brews to judge tastes; the player with the most reputation after eight rounds is the top brewer.
