The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – Nightmare Deck: The Three Trials

Players lead a fellowship of heroes through a campaign to recover a powerful Dunlending artifact, facing three Guardian enemies that present escalating trials. The expansion adds a Nightmare-mode encounter deck that replaces and augments cards with deadlier enemies, darker locations, and event triggers. New Spirit enemies interact with Guardians via totem mechanics: they both bolster Guardians and grow stronger when paired with them, altering enemy threat and damage patterns. Players must adapt deckbuilding and tactics to handle intensified encounter synergies, manage quest progress under harsher conditions, and overcome encounter deck twists that change how scenarios resolve.
