The Royal Game of Ur

An ancient Sumerian race game with a board reproduced from an original found in the city of Ur. Players roll four tetrahedral dice, each producing a marked or blank result, and move one of seven pieces along the track. Single opposing pieces can be sent back to the start, while groups provide protection. Rosettes allow another roll, with the central rosette serving as a safe space. The first player to bear off all seven pieces wins.
