Catan: Catakatoa

Players settle an island that includes an active volcano tile replacing the usual desert. Settlements and roads can be built adjacent to the volcano; each corner of the tile is assigned a d6 face. At the start of each turn the volcano may erupt: a roll matching a corner destroys any settlement on that corner, removing its buildings and returning pieces to players. Surviving adjacent settlements gain bonus resources when the volcano does not destroy them. Players balance risk and reward as they place settlements, manage resources, and expand routes while accounting for the volcano’s randomized eruptions.
