Notable Novices and Notorious Newcomers

This collection of optional tables supports Old-School Essentials and similar B/X- and BECMI-compatible fantasy role-playing games. It provides reasons for quickly welcoming a new party member, previous adventuring careers for characters starting at level 2 or higher, and class-specific magic items they may have looted. The results add background details to replacement and newly created characters, ranging from minor flavor to developments that affect a character’s story.
