Blue Moon

Two players command rival peoples in a small fantasy world where three elemental dragons determine the balance of power. Play proceeds as a sequence of individual fights in either fire or earth; on each turn players play character and support cards to build and match combat power, forcing the opponent to respond or retreat. Winners of fights claim dragon markers and discarded cards form each player’s discard pile. The game ends when a player runs out of cards or when one side attracts all three dragons, with victory decided by dragon control and scored crystals. Each people is represented by a fixed 30-card deck and features unique mechanics; additional peoples are available as separate decks.

Not quite as heavy-hitting as I would like; a bit too much on the luckish side. A great deal of variety is available through many expansions, but I don't like the deck cross-over seeding - it is an obvious hook to pull in completists.

I'm not a big fan of the art, but I could have looked past it if the game had any depth. It seems very simplistic, and I can't see how it warrants all of these expansions.
