Zenith

In a future Solar System inhabited by Humans, Robots and Animods, factions compete for control of energy-rich worlds powered by Zenithium. Players place and manipulate colored Influence discs across five planets — Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars and Jupiter — to sway the senate. Play centers on acquiring and arranging Influence to meet one of three instant-win conditions: collecting three discs on the same planet, four discs on four different planets, or five discs in total. The first player to satisfy any of these conditions ends the game immediately.

How do Influence discs move — can I put a disc anywhere on the track when I gain Influence?

When you gain an Influence, move the corresponding planet’s Influence disc exactly 1 space toward your control zone; if it reaches your control zone you gain that disc (Rulebook, p.6). Note that any extra movement beyond the control zone is lost (Rulebook, p.6).

When I recruit an Agent, do I resolve its effects right away — and can the card I just played target itself?

Resolve Recruit in order: place the card, pay its cost (reduced by stacked cards), then apply its effects left-to-right — so the card’s effects can target the just-played card (Rulebook, p.7; FAQ, p.11).

How exactly do I develop a Technology and when do Level 2 bonuses and row bonuses apply?

To develop you discard a matching-faction card, pay the Zenithium cost of the next level, move your tech marker up, and apply the new level’s effect in addition to earlier levels (Rulebook, p.8). The first player to a Level 2 track gains and immediately applies that track’s Bonus token before lower-level effects, and completing all three Level 1/2/3 tracks grants the corresponding row bonus of 1/2/3 Influence (Rulebook, p.8).

What does the Leader badge do, and how do I take or flip it?

Take the Become the Leader action by discarding a faction card to gain the Leader badge plus the faction-specific benefit (Robot: +1 Zenithium, Human: +3 Credits, Animod: mobilize 2) (Rulebook, p.9). When you take the badge from an opponent it goes to Silver (5-card hand), flipping it to Gold increases your hand limit to 6; hand refill at end of turn respects your current badge (Rulebook, p.9).

When does the game end and what are the victory conditions I should watch for?

The game ends immediately when a player meets one of three victory conditions: Absolute (gain 3 discs from the same planet), Democratic (gain 4 discs from strictly different planets), or Popular (gain 5 discs total) (Rulebook, p.1), and play stops as soon as one is satisfied (Rulebook, p.9).
