Coffee Traders

Develop coffee-growing regions across Central and South America, Africa, and Asia in the 1970s while building a global trading network. Players place and upgrade plantations, construct buildings to support cooperatives, and manage shipments of Arabica beans to buyers in Antwerp and beyond. The game combines area development, market monitoring, and network expansion as players cooperate and compete to secure fair prices, loans, and trading contracts for their growers.

Regelspørgsmål

Besvaret ud fra regelbogen af Ludoyas regelassistent.

When I add a plantation on a 1/2 or 2/3 space, do I have to use donkeys or a truck and move a worker — what if I don't have them?

You must pay the cost, place the required donkeys from your COMPANY SUPPLY (or use a truck from COMPANY SUPPLY to reach a 2/3 space), and, if it’s your first plantation in that cooperative, move a worker from your WORKER POOL to the town center; if you lack the needed donkeys/truck or a worker in your WORKER POOL you cannot place that plantation there. Trucks let you skip the 1/2 row’s supporting‑plantation requirement but the 1‑row limits still apply. (page 8)

How do the Arabica track bonuses (trader/truck/coins/donkey) actually trigger?

You advance on an Arabica row for each Arabica/Animal/◇ you get; the first time you reach at least column 2 on all five tracks you move your trader to your TRADE & BUILD area, the first time you reach at least column 3 on all five tracks you move your truck to COMPANY SUPPLY, and printed bonuses (coins/donkeys) are gained when you land on those spaces (column 4 gives a coin to each player who reaches it; the first to column 5 gets a donkey); you cannot move backward from a coin or donkey space. (page 9)

What happens if I don't staff my plantations in Phase 2 — how do I pay penalties?

After everyone drops out, each unoccupied plantation earns a penalty equal to the current period (1970=1, 1975=2, 1980=3), which you pay by discarding coins and/or moving back on Arabica tracks (in any combination); if you cannot pay fully you pay what you can and then remove your highest‑placed unoccupied plantations until the unpaid penalties are covered. (page 10)

Can I use kopi luwak as any coffee when fulfilling contracts or delivering to bars?

Yes — kopi luwak is wild and may be spent as any other coffee type for contracts or deliveries, though you cannot acquire kopi luwak via normal trading ratios. (page 12)

When I take Action B to deliver to Coffee Bars, can I make two deliveries and what bonuses do I get (including the Wild Stock)?

Yes — Action B lets you make up to two deliveries (one after the other), and for each delivery you choose an uncovered Coffee Bar space, spend the required coffee, take the coin bonus, take any Animal bonus shown, and place a scoring marker; in a 4‑ or 5‑player game, if you have newly delivered to all six Coffee Bars you take a Wild Stock counter to place in your WAREHOUSE. (page 13)
