Concept

Players work in teams to communicate a secret word or phrase by placing markers on a board of pictographic icons. A hinting team selects a target and uses a central question-mark marker plus color-coded cubes on icons (such as actions, objects, categories, attributes and relationships) to build associative clues. Other players interpret the icon combinations to guess the target; the first correct guess scores extra points while the hinting team also earns points. Rounds proceed with different teams providing clues until a winner emerges by accumulating the most points.

I just love the concept of this game (pun intended). It's a shame I have much more fun with it than the others at the table on the rare occasion it gets played. I use the cards from Imagine for this game as they seem to have better words for it than its own deck. This just clicks with me, I don't know what it is. I'm keeping it even for those few occasions when it hits the table.

Regelspørgsmål

Besvaret ud fra regelbogen af Ludoyas regelassistent.

Can the team talk or give hints to the guessers besides saying “yes”?

Team members may say “yes” when others give a good answer or are on the right track, but they cannot otherwise communicate directly with the other players (page 2).

Do we have to place the green main pawn first, or can we start with sub-concepts?

You must place the main concept pawn first to represent the word, then place cubes of the same color to clarify it; add sub-concept pawns and their cubes afterwards if needed (page 2).

Is there a limit to how many guesses other players can make?

Other players can attempt to guess the concept as often as they wish—there is no limit (page 2).

Who scores points when a word is guessed?

The first player to find the solution receives one Double token (2 VPs), and each member of the team whose word was guessed receives one Single token (1 VP) (page 2).

Can we move or reorder cubes after placing them, and do team members have to take turns placing pieces?

Yes—the order in which cubes are placed can be important, and you may remove and replace cubes to emphasize order; team members are free to place pieces as they wish and are not obliged to take turns (page 2).

What happens if nobody can guess the word?

The team may choose a third player to assist them; if no one can still guess correctly, the word is abandoned and no one scores any points that round (page 2).
