Players portray competing Cardinal factions within a papal conclave, each with a public profile and a secret agenda. The objective is to influence the election by promoting candidates whose visible traits match the faction’s stated interests while pursuing hidden goals that may conflict with those public aims. Influence is the core resource: it pays for cards and voting power but also counts as points, so players balance spending against endgame scoring. Rounds alternate between negotiation, card play, and voting, with alliances, bluffing, and deduction used to reveal or conceal motives. The game ends when a Pope is elected by a white smoke vote or after five rounds, followed by final scoring.
