Ragusa

Players develop a 15th-century Adriatic city by placing houses, constructing towers and buildings, and managing trade with the East. Houses sit on intersections between three hexes and simultaneously collect the resources or actions of those three surrounding spaces, functioning like multi-trigger worker placement. Resources from rural hexes fund construction, crafting of commodities, and trading as harbor demand shifts with arriving ships. Building in the city grants access to nearby actions and can reactivate adjacent houses — including opponents’ — creating engine-building interactions where others profit from a player’s placement. The game ends when all houses are placed; points from buildings, commodities and other sources determine the winner.

#51 I really enjoyed playing it. It plays quite fast. Very nice game mechanism. A very player interactive game. On your turn you place a house in an empty space at the junction of three hexes. If it's next to resources you click up the matching resource card to show you have access to it. If it's next to any city spaces you resolve the action of those spaces on space at time, as does each other player that already has a house around the space following clockwise from your placement. This even includes your own houses, so if you stack up around an area you get to resolve the effect multiple times. Two of the hex spaces in the city area where all the actions are, have abilities that aren't shared, and I would have liked the indicator for that to be a little more clear. The game seems to have two or three distinct paths to get victory points. Unfortunately, spaces in the game tend to fill regardless of your plans, so more or less everything you invest in pays off, which somewhat reduces the excitement for me. It also means the replayability is a bit lower than you'd expect with this exciting action selection mechanism. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :star: Clever or interesting mechanisms :star: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :nostar: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::star::nostar::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment
