Through Ice & Snow

Players lead rival 19th-century expeditions across an evolving Arctic map to chart routes, document wildlife and search for the Northwest Passage. Each player controls a ship and a three-officer crew (Carpenter, Scientist, Captain) with distinct abilities, recruits Inuit guides, and expands the modular board by revealing new map tiles and routes as the voyage progresses. Gameplay revolves around resource management, exploration, hunting and dealing with events such as storms, scarce food and crew morale; successful surveys and discoveries score prestige, while failed expeditions risk loss of crew and ship.

Positivo: - Euro de colocación de trabajadores muy temático. - Bastante interacción y pelea. - El aspecto visual está muy cuidado. Negativo: - Apreta demasiado en recursos lo que puede ser interesante pero en este caso la sensación es de no poder avanzar ya que constantemente tienes que gastar acciones para mantener a raya el hambre, motivación etc...lo cual lo hace muy temático pero en mi caso demasiado frustante. Modo solitario: - Muy interesante ya que tiene escenarios cada uno con mecánicas diferentes por lo que es un plus. No obstante en la caja base sólo vienen 2 escenarios. Como contrapunto sería que es muy difícil ganar por lo que es bastante frustrante. En general es un buen juego pero para mi, 0 emoción. Le falta vida. Si te gustan los juegos temáticos, que apretan y hacen sufrir...es tu juego. Si buscas un juego que te permita tener sensación de avance, con este no lo tendrás.

I have played in the hobby for many years and although I have played a wide variety of mechanics one of continues to fascinate me is the worker placement with maximum agony, meaning that a feeling that you cannot cover everything, that you are missing actions, turns... suffer, take negative points,... at a certain point it reminds me of the first experience I had with Agricola many many years ago. Game is so that excellent. Don't believe broken strategies. Game is extremelly well balanced, if you score so many big point from one of the main strategies is because your partners have not keep an eye on you. I recommend playing with the SURVIVAL mode, true hardcore boardgaming. Best game of Essen 2024.
