1793: Patriots & Traitors

A political and military struggle in Revolutionary France from 1792–1794, where each player represents a distinct faction (radical, moderate, or conservative) pursuing its own agenda amid shortages, foreign invasions, and popular unrest. Players use multi-purpose action cards to influence locations across Paris and the provinces: control of areas like the Convention, palaces, and streets grants benefits and enables larger moves such as coups or civil war. Leaders with unique abilities (Robespierre, Marat, Dumouriez) can be activated to advance a faction’s aims but face arrest or assassination. Cooperation is occasionally necessary to stop invading armies from reaching Paris, while rivalry and survival against political purges drive the game’s shifting alliances and outcomes.

I love the french revolution theme, but I felt the game was missing something. In the Pax games every card is filled with text explaining the historical situation, in this game every card was just listing an image, name and what the card does mechanics vise. Having a game using a bunch of tarot sized cards and not filling then with historical fluff feels like a missed opportunity as most cards are quite empty.
