KOI
A peaceful koi pond becomes the setting for a daily race to feed. Players use movement cards to swim, turn, rotate, and leap across the pond while eating dragonflies and frogs for points. Natural beauty cards add lily pads, cherry blossoms, stones, and frogs, changing movement and disrupting the other fish. After seven days of changing events, the best-fed koi wins. A solo mode includes an adjustable AI opponent.

Evan1,6 This game has marvelous art and very cute little wooden components. You get a small hand of cards which either show a series of arrows your little fish token will follow on the central board, or it shows a new element to add to the board. The gameplay is a bit of a mess though. There's a huge starting player advantage as on your turn you play as many cards from your hand as you want. Your goal is to move your fish around and eat the tokens. If you save up your hand correctly, and get a bit lucky, you can pretty much wipe the board of everything on your turn as starting player. Maybe this evens out across the rounds. It's not super clear. I'm also not sure why you'd want to play a game that's only fun every 2-4 rounds depending on the number of players. There are also a number of rules questions I still have with regard to the flower token. When placed, it moves everything around it, which can then cascade into previously placed flowers re-activating and further cascading things. I need to spend some time in the BGG rules forum to really understand how this works. We just fudged it in our play, not wanting to spend a lot of time going through the rules forum for our light filler game. Idk, maybe I'll find out we played this completely incorrectly and need to revisit it. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :nostar: Clever or interesting mechanisms :nostar: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :nostar: Multiple plays stay interesting :nostar: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::star::nostar::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment
