Dark Ages: Holy Roman Empire

A historically grounded civilization-building miniatures game set in Medieval Central Europe. Players use action markers on the map to take actions; markers that remain on the board can trigger secondary bonus actions when the same action is repeated by any player. Gameplay emphasizes the 4X pillars: explore regions, expand territory, exploit resources, and fight opponents, with Euro-centric mechanics focused on city building, fortifications, resource management, technology development, and military recruitment. Expanding players claim noble titles, acquire asymmetric leader abilities and culture cards, and deploy units and relics. This edition uses a distinct Central European map, unique card mixes for rulers, technologies and units, and includes themed modules for the Crusades and papal influence.
