Isle of Skye: From Chieftain to King

Players act as rival chieftains building a kingdom by placing landscape tiles to create connected territories and scoring features. Each round players draw and place two tiles, set prices for tiles they offer for sale, and either buy others’ tiles or pay to keep their own if nobody buys them, so money management and pricing decisions drive the economy. Four scoring objectives are chosen from a larger set each game, producing variable strategies; points come from patterns on the map rather than wealth, and the highest-scoring kingdom wins.

Do I have to buy a tile in both buy turns each round?

No — you are not required to buy in either buy turn; even if you skip buying in the first buy turn you may still buy in the second buy turn. (page 1)

How do I calculate the total cost when I buy a Druid tile from the dolmen board?

The total cost is the tile’s fixed printed cost (0–8 gold) plus the additional position cost of the dolmen space (0–4 gold); e.g., a 3‑cost tile on the leftmost +4 space costs 7 gold. (page 1)

If a Druid tile shows a stone tablet, when does that effect apply?

When you add the Druid tile to your clan territory you take the matching stone tablet and its special effect can be used starting from the next round and lasts until the end of the game. (page 1)

Can I buy a landscape tile from the bag in the second buy turn, and what happens?

Yes — instead of buying a Druid tile in the second buy turn you may pay 5 gold to draw two tiles, keep one and return the other to the bag; certain stone tablets can reduce that cost and increase the number of tiles you draw. (page 1)

If I have stone tablets that give discounts, do they reduce what the seller actually receives when I buy from an opponent?

Stone tablet discounts apply when buying a tile from an opponent (not when buying your own tile or in the second buy turn) and stack, but the opponent always receives at least the gold they assigned to their tile and costs never go below zero. (page 1)

When and how do the tiles on the dolmen board move or get removed?

After you buy a Druid tile you move the remaining dolmen tiles to the right and draw a new tile to the leftmost space; additionally, at the end of each round remove the rightmost dolmen tile, shift the others right, and place a new tile on the leftmost space. (page 1)
