1959 · Territory Building

Risk

Players compete for global conquest by controlling territories and continents on a world map. Turns consist of collecting reinforcements based on territories held, continent bonuses, and traded-in card sets; conducting as many dice-resolved attacks as desired against adjacent enemy territories; and making a single fortify move of armies between adjacent territories. Combat uses simple dice comparisons where highest dice on each side are compared to determine casualties. Successful captures earn bonus cards that can be exchanged later for additional reinforcements.

This game is not for the weak. It is rated way too low in this database. Learn how to play the game with the right strategies and you'll have a much better time playing. Go for a different theme if you're into that. LOTR or Game of Thrones or even Halo theme risk are all fun in their own right. Trust no one and break alliances. Dominate the world. 7/10.

#4 Too long, too much luck involved. And if someone is eliminated he's out for the rest of the game, very nice.

This game gets a bad rep, but I'm still always down to play it with the right crowd. This was my first non party board game, and have so many fond memories with it
