You must continue edges with railroad or river — you may not connect a river/rail edge to an edge without that feature; forest, grain, village and meadow edges may be placed freely (see page 2).

In the first three turns you reveal task tiles; thereafter always check how many task tiles with tokens are in play — if fewer than three reveal a task tile (with its matching token), if there are three reveal a landscape tile (see page 2).

The number (4, 5 or 6) is how many tiles the connected area, railroad or river must consist of exactly for the token to be fulfilled; when that exact size is achieved you place the completed token to the edge of the play area (see page 3).

No — you may not place a task tile so that the area (or railroad/river) already has more tiles at the moment of placement than the task token requires, nor place it if it would complete the area with fewer tiles than the token calls for; if an area later grows beyond a token’s number you must cancel that task and return the token to the box (see page 3).

Only flags in closed areas count; for each flag in a closed area you score points equal to the number of tiles in that area (see pages 3 and 4).

The game ends as soon as you must reveal and place a landscape tile but all landscape stacks are used up (unrevealed task tiles do not come into play); if you complete a task with the last landscape tile you continue by revealing/placing task tiles until no more tasks are completed (see page 4).
