Amateurs to Arms!

A two-player historical simulation of the War of 1812 with one player as the British/Canadian forces and the other as the Americans. Play covers multiple theaters including the US–Canadian border, the Great Lakes, the old Northwest wilderness, the Atlantic coast, the southern Indian theater, and the campaign culminating at New Orleans. Each turn represents a few months and players draw a hand of cards determined by the turn track; cards are used either for their event text or for Operations Points to move expeditions, build ships and fortifications, or raise troops. A Peace Track records war weariness driven by card events and map actions; when the two markers meet play moves to negotiations and a final resolution. Seasonal turns impose special rules and European developments affect available resources.
