Players build a medieval landscape by placing square terrain tiles to extend roads, cities, cloisters and fields, scoring points for completed features and meeple placement. This edition combines the base tile-laying game with five expansions that add new tile types, special scoring elements and layered mechanics. Added components introduce a river start, an abbot figure for cloister scoring, bridges and castle tiles that create multi-level interactions, a dragon and princess that influence tile placement and meeple control, and new ruler and cult elements that modify endgame scoring and area control. Players draft and place tiles, deploy or retrieve followers, and compete for majority on evolving features until all tiles are placed.
