BattleCON: Fate of Indines

A compact head-to-head fighting game that pairs a shared moveset system with distinctive character styles. Players pick fighters and simultaneously select attack and stance cards each round, then resolve those choices to contest initiative, positioning, and damage. The box includes a travel-sized board and a set of ten compatible fighters that integrate with existing collections, allowing players to expand rosters and play standalone or combined with other sets.

The best 1vs1 fighting game I've tried. A fantastic, simple system with incredible depth. THIS SPECIFIC BOX (FATE) - 10 characters, from simple to complex. Not the worst cast to get started in BattleCON, but War or Trials are probably better. - Has no individual tuckboxes nor the latest Force Gauge system. Also, the board is made of cards: great for portability, but much less quality-looking. - You'll probably need to expand the roster if you're into the game. PROS - With a really simple ruleset, it creates incredible interactions between its characters. - Every character feels absolutely unique. Some of them may be similar, but they'll have a distinctive feature that differenciates them. - There is a character in a BattleCON box that feels like it was designed for you. Maybe more than one! - The game is really tense: it really feels like a fight. Predicting your opponent's moves correctly is incredibly satisfying. CONS - Some details may be difficult to grasp for new players (while the 4th edition will make the game and its graphic design much more straighforward). - It cannot be played at its best until each player knows their character and their opponent's character. You won't experience it correctly by playing it from time to time with random opponents.
