プレイヤーは変化する大陸を探検し、いくつもの地域を順に外側へ進んだ後、同じ道を戻りながら得点します。各ターン、プレイヤーは手札3枚のうち1枚を自分の8地域からなる列の右端にプレイします。これらのカードは目標を生み出し、後のターンに条件を満たすと得点を与えるキャラクターが描かれています。 カードは表向きの共有リバーにも加わり、そこからプレイヤーは手札を補充します。また、同時進行のプレイでは優先順位システムが使われるため、手番順とカードを取るタイミングが戦略上重要になります。基本の流れは、カードを並べてプレイしながら目標を設定し、帰路で以前に課された条件を達成して、相手より多く得点することです。

How many Region cards do I play, and how many rounds are there?
You play one Region card each round for 8 rounds, ending with 8 cards in your play area. You start with 3 Region cards in hand; after choosing a card from the center, you take one to bring your hand back to 3, except in the final round (Rulebook, pp. 3, 5–6).
When do I get to draw Sanctuary cards?
You qualify if the Region you just played has a higher exploration duration than the Region you played on your previous turn. Draw one Sanctuary card, plus one for each Clue you have among your Regions and Sanctuaries; no one qualifies in the first round (Rulebook, p. 6).
Who picks from the Region cards in the center first?
Players take turns in order of the exploration durations they played that round, from lowest to highest. Choose one available Region card to add to your hand; the cards taken are not replaced, and the last player may have fewer choices (Rulebook, p. 6).
Do I have to use each resource for only one quest?
No. A resource may be used to satisfy multiple requests and prerequisites. Any prerequisite is checked at the end of the game using resources on your Region and Sanctuary cards (Rulebook, p. 4).
Do I score my Regions from left to right?
No. Score them from right to left, starting with the last Region you played; for each card, consider all your face-up Regions (including that card) and your Sanctuaries. Score Sanctuary cards after all Regions (Rulebook, p. 7).
