Empires of the Middle Ages

Control the political and economic fortunes of a medieval European realm across multi-decade turns covering 771–1467. Players draw Event Cards each round that alter conditions (plague, bounty, special benefits) and then assign up to five Endeavors per 25‑year Turn from categories such as Conquest, Pillage, Diplomacy, Defense, Fortification and Ruling; movement and taxation are also available. Resolution uses Year Cards rather than dice and may trigger Leader Stature checks that adjust Combat, Administration and Diplomacy ratings. Area attributes—language, religion, population and a changing Social State—affect outcomes and can generate unrest or rebellion. Optional rules add raiders, magnates, armies, fleets and extra events for greater complexity.
