Land and Freedom: The Spanish Revolution and Civil War

Players represent three anti-fascist factions that must cooperate to defend the Republic against a fascist military offensive backed by foreign powers. Each round the fascists attack on four Fronts, with one Front facing a heavier test; players play cards either as Events or into personal Tableaus to build stronger future actions and respond to the assaults. Teamwork during defenses earns rewards, while calculated losses can yield strategic gains. Each faction manages two advancement tracks to trigger bonuses and earn Medallions for immediate or permanent benefits, and the faction controlling Government (or a strong Anarchist Revolution) holds Initiative. Initiative holders place tokens into a Glory bag at each turn’s end; bag draws at the end of each year determine scoring, and the Republic must hold a majority of Fronts to avoid national defeat.
