Pyramid of Pengqueen

Players take asymmetric roles inside a pyramid: one player controls an unseen guardian piece from the back of a vertical magnetic board, while the others steer tomb raiders on the visible side to collect treasures. Movement is driven by dice and mission cards; raiders reveal only limited information about their goals and rolls, forcing the guardian to deduce their positions by color cues and memory. When the guardian’s magnetic figure lands on a raider, that raider is captured and suffers penalties. The guardian scores by catching raiders, while the raiders score by securing a target number of treasures, creating a hide-and-seek game of deduction, bluffing, and spatial memory.

This is a wonderful, clever light game where one player takes on the role of the mummy and the other players act as treasure hunters. The treasure hunters get a semi-random assortment of treasure cards. The board is magnetic, and acts as a screen. The mummy can only see themselves, not the players, but the players can see themselves and the mummy. The players roll dice and move their figures, so the mummy knows where they start from, how many spaces they moved and what areas the treasures they still need are in. If the mummy magnet traps a player magnet, the mummy gets a point. A player wins if they manage to get every one of their treasures. ★ Art, Iconography and components functional ★ Clever or interesting mechanisms ★ Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players ☆ Multiple plays stay interesting ★ Low or mitigatable luck elements ★★★☆☆ Raw enjoyment
