Among the Stars

Players represent alien races collaborating in a fragile post-war alliance to construct space stations that promote trade, diplomacy, and defense. Through card drafting over four rounds, players select module and location cards and place them to build a connected station, balancing placement restrictions, adjacency bonuses, and faction-specific abilities to score points. The player with the most points at the end of the construction period wins.

57 Multiplayer solitaire. On your turn you choose 1 card and expand your space station. That's it. Very boring and zero interaction.

While this game does share the card drafting mechanic of 7 wonders, it feels more like Suburbia than anything else. While beautiful, the cards look very busy and it can be hard to read the other player's board states when effects require you to. There is substantial replayability as you only see a fraction of the available cards each game, however the expansion modules that add anything other than special locations add a lot to the setup time and dilute the the game. ★ Art, Iconography and components functional ☆ Clever or interesting mechanisms ★ Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players ★ Multiple plays stay interesting ★ Low or mitigatable luck elements ★★☆☆☆ Raw enjoyment
