De Ark is Vol!

Players draft and place animal tiles onto a personal two-tiered ark hidden from others. Each round begins with a shared collective of animal tiles; players either split that collective into two groups and take a food crate, or take one group into their ark by paying one food crate per animal in the group. Animals placed in pairs are later removed, singles score their printed value (1–5), and herds score a flat five points. Players start with limited food crates (max five) and the game ends when a player has at least ten animals on their ark.

This is a short I split you choose game where players can either break up a lot of tiles, and gain a food, or spend X food to take a lot of tiles at X size. If at the end of the game you wind up with only a pair of animals, then they get discarded. Big points from stacking up lots of the same. It's fine. There's nothing wrong with it, but nothing that got me excited about it either. ★ Art, Iconography and components functional ☆ Clever or interesting mechanisms ★ Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players ☆ Multiple plays stay interesting ★ Low or mitigatable luck elements ★★☆☆☆ Raw enjoyment
