The Settlers of Catan

Players compete to develop a new island by collecting and spending five resource types—grain, wool, ore, brick, and lumber—to build roads, settlements, and cities, and to buy development cards. Resources are gained by rolling dice each turn or by trading with other players and the bank, while a robber token can block production and steal resources. The map is assembled from hex tiles and yields changing opportunities as players expand; victory points come from construction, development cards, and certain awards. Supports 3–6 players with additional components and turns for larger groups.
