Players represent competing space programs racing to land astronauts on the moon and return them safely. Each round players collect income, resolve an event card, and may buy hardware, improve system reliability, recruit crew, and secretly plan missions. During launches players assemble required hardware, ensure rocket thrust matches payload, and attempt mission steps by rolling percentile checks against item safety ratings; failures trigger staged mishaps in the advanced rules. Completed missions and failures adjust income for the next year, and players balance research, equipment purchases, and risk-taking to time their first successful lunar return.
